First elected to Kogarah City Council as a Councillor serving 2008-2016, Cr Elmir is a lifelong resident of the local area. He holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Sydney and managed a number of pharmacies before purchasing his own. He is involved in a number of local charities and is a proud sponsor of the Kogarah Cougars Junior Rugby League Football Club.

Cr Elmir has served on both the Community Services and Corporate Governance Committees of the Kogarah City Council. His successes include lobbying the Federal Government for Infrastructure Grant Funding for the refurbishment of the PJ Ferry community centre in Allawah, and being part of the team that won the Australia’s Most Sustainable Cities Award in 2011 for Kogarah. He is focussed on ensuring strong financial management of Council and will work towards fixing parking problems across the local area. He plans to work towards upgrades of local amenities and sporting fields, and supporting small local business through the introduction and delivery of a ‘Small Business Action Plan’.
