Volunteering

Timebanking in Georges River

Timebanking is a free community program that allows the voluntary exchange of service between members. You can earn time credits for sharing your skills to help other members, then use the credits to receive services that are valuable to you. Timebanking values people’s skills and time and is not based on a monetary exchange. It is proven to build community connection and to have people in the community valued for what they can do for others. It allows us to place a value on the tremendous amount of work done by volunteers in our community.

In Georges River we already have 3Bridges Community and Kogarah Community Services registered as members. We encourage our community to register for timebanking and really value each other.

To find out more visit the Timebanking website.

Bushcare volunteer groups

Volunteer with us and help improve our local bushland while enjoying the benefits of working alongside other like-minded community members.

Our Bushcare volunteers help manage our area’s remnant bushland by mitigating the effects of vegetation fragmentation, urban runoff, invasion of garden species and noxious weeds (such as lantana and privet), vandalism (including tree poisoning and rubbish dumping) and feral animals.

If you would like to participate, learn new skills, contribute to improving the diversity of Georges River’s indigenous native flora and help create habitat for our native animals, contact Council or visit the Georges River Council Bushcare Volunteers facebook page. Volunteers are offered training and supervision from Council’s qualified bush regenerators. Tools and equipment are provided by Council.

To register your interest or for more information, please contact bushcare@georgesriver.nsw.gov.au.
