No experience is needed to volunteer with Bushcare. All training, tools, and guidance are provided by our Bushcare site supervisors.

Bushcare volunteer activities include:

• Weed removal.

• Planting.

• Plant identification.

• Mulching.

• Seed collection.

Our Bushcare groups meet regularly on a 4-week schedule. Download the Bushcare Monthly Calendar 2026: August to December to see where and when our groups meet.

Please note that Bushcare groups may change due to public holidays, bad weather, or other unforeseen events. Updates will be sent to registered volunteers. Make sure you are registered so you can stay informed about any changes.

Bushcare Volunteer Form

Council's Bushcare Corporate Program fosters partnerships between the community, government and business to better manage Council's natural assets.
 

We will provide 

• Site and equipment: We will organise the project site, prepare the area for work, provide equipment, and arrange any required permits.

• Facilities: We will choose a site with access to toilets, drinking water, and, where possible, shelter. If extra facilities are needed, the cost will be the responsibility of the Corporate Volunteer Organisation.

• Event support: Most events run on weekdays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Our team will be on site during the event and will manage set up and pack up.

• Activities and tools: We will provide a range of activities to suit different abilities and group sizes. These may include weeding, planting, mulching, bush regeneration, and litter collection. We will supply all tools and equipment. Volunteers will not use chemicals or power tools.

• Safety and supervision: We will provide a safe work environment, including a trained first aid officer, a first aid kit, a risk assessment, a safety briefing, and other required safety documents.

• Agreement and payment: Before the event, both parties must sign a Letter of Agreement. This document covers payment, insurance, safety, and cancellations. We will send an invoice after the event based on the number of confirmed participants.

You will provide 

• Transport: Your organisation is responsible for arranging transport to and from the site.

• Food and drinks: Your organisation is responsible for providing food and drinks for participants.

• Participant numbers: Please confirm participant numbers at least five working days before the event. Fees will be based on the number of confirmed participants. Events may be rescheduled due to bad weather.

• ​Cancellations: If your organisation cancels an event within 10 working days of the event date, Council may recover costs already incurred. Any costs will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
