Council's Role in Food Safety


Our Environmental Health Officers inspect food premises and enforce laws and regulations to ensure all food and drinks sold in the Georges River area are safe to consume.

If you are concerned about a food premise, please contact us.  

Under the NSW Food Act 2003, authorised Officers are permitted to enter and inspect any premises believed to be selling food. 

During an inspection, Environmental Health Officers assess the compliance of the food premises in accordance with the:

Food premises inspections are generally conducted without giving prior notice to the proprietor or staff of food businesses.
