Abandoned shopping trolleys in public areas are both an eyesore and a potential hazard for pedestrians and motorists alike.
Shopping trolleys should not be taken from shopping centres or businesses and should be returned to where they were taken from.
A person who abandons a shopping trolley in a public place may be issued a Penalty Notice and required to pay a fine of $220.
