Coastal Management

To protect local natural assets, we are working in partnership with seven other Councils on the Georges River Combined Councils Committee to ensure we have a clear direction on the future of the Georges River estuary.

The Georges River Coastal Zone Management Plan will allow us to:

  • Accommodate sustainable population growth and resource utilisation

  • Enhance cooperation between councils, agencies and stakeholders

  • Gain community support and acceptance on managing the estuary

  • Improve public access and amenity

  • Obtain funding to carry out works

  • Prioritise what needs to be done to better manage the estuary

  • Protect important coastal habitats, features and heritage items

  • Rehabilitate degraded areas.
