Environmental Management

Council’s Environmental Health team investigates pollution incidents and works to protect the environment by making sure environmental laws are followed.

The team also plays an important role in planning and development. Officers review development proposals and provide advice to reduce environmental impacts. They work closely with businesses and the community to encourage better environmental practices.

Environmental Health Officers investigate and resolve incidents reported across the Georges River area relating to environmental protection and management, including:

  • Air pollution.

  • Contaminated land and acid sulphate soils.

  • Water pollution.

  • Noise pollution.

Through these investigations and reporting on incidents, Environmental Health Officers help protect public health and safety. This work also supports the long-term protection of our local environment, including waterways, air quality, soil, and local plants and animals.
