Councillor Elise Borg was elected Mayor of Georges River Council at the extraordinary council meeting on Monday 14 October 2024.
 
Mayor Elise Borg is currently serving her first term as Georges River Council Mayor. She will be Mayor for a period of two years until September 2026.

The role of Mayor includes:

• Encourage community cohesion and civic awareness.
• Acting as the spokesperson of Council representing the views of the council as to its local priorities.
• Attend Council Meetings. Ensure they run efficiently and follow the code of meeting practice and the Local Government Act 1993.
• Ensure Council's plans, programs, and policies are adopted on time.
• Promote the effective and consistent use of the Council's strategic plans, programs, and policies.
• Promoting partnerships between Council and key stakeholders.
• ​Carrying out the civic and ceremonial functions of the Mayoral office.
• Representing Council at regional, State, and Commonwealth forums and organisations.
