Culture in Colour: Mayor’s Art Competition

Do you love exploring different cultures and expressing yourself through art? Well, get ready to unleash your imagination because we have an exciting competition just for you!

What is it all about?

The Mayor of Georges River Council is calling on all primary school children in our local government area to showcase their artistic talents by creating artwork that celebrates cultural diversity.

We want you to choose a cultural day that is special to you – whether it's Diwali, Christmas, Lunar New Year, Eid al-Fitr, or any other cultural celebration that holds significance in your life.

Why participate?

Imagine your artwork being featured in posters, flyers, and digital promotions across our community!

The winning designs will be proudly displayed in the Council's marketing and promotion efforts for cultural days throughout the year. Plus, winners will receive a certificate signed by the Mayor and a fantastic prize of art supplies to fuel your creativity even further.

How to get involved:

  1. Read the FAQs: Make sure you understand all the guidelines and rules by reading through our Frequently Asked Questions.

  2. Print your application form: Get your parent or guardian to help you fill out the application form, making sure all the details are correct. Print it off in A3 to allow more room for your masterpiece.

  3. Choose your cultural day: Think about which cultural celebration resonates with you the most. What symbols, colors, and traditions make this day special? Let your imagination run wild as you create your original artwork.

  4. Submit your artwork: You can send it in by mail or drop it off at the Council's Customer Service Centre in Hurstville. Remember, the deadline for submissions is April 12, 2024.The Mayor of Georges River Council will judge all entries at the same time and decide the winning artwork for each cultural day of significance.
