Celebrate National Tree Day with Georges River Council’s Bushcare team

04/07/2023

Georges River Council is encouraging green-thumbed residents to take part in its National Tree Day event at Beverly Hills Park on Sunday 30 July 2023 to help create a greener and more vibrant environment for our community.

Attendees will have the opportunity to contribute to the establishment of a sustainable wildlife corridor with vegetation layers, which are currently lacking within the reserve.

The event is made possible through the Planet Ark National Tree Day program and hosted by the Georges River Council Bushcare team. Their collective efforts will ensure the selection and planting of carefully chosen species that will enhance the existing vegetation community.

The Oatley Lions Club have organised a sausage sizzle so participants can enjoy lunch on-site.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own hats, gloves, and water bottle to stay protected and hydrated throughout the day. No prior experience is necessary to participate, as guidance will be provided by experienced Bushcare team members.

Mayor Nick Katris said "National Tree Day provides us with an incredible opportunity to come together as a community and take action for the betterment of our environment. By planting carefully selected species, we are not only beautifying our park but also providing a haven for our local wildlife and increasing biodiversity."
