  • Notification of Extraordinary Council Meeting - 6.00pm, Monday 20 April 2020

    An Extraordinatory Council Meeting will be held at 6.00pm on Monday 20 April 2020 to consider the deferred matters from the 16 December 2019, 24 February 2020 and 23 March 2020 Council Meetings.

    This meeting will be presented via Skype and can be viewed by members of the public online.
  • Closure of Tidal Baths at Carss Bush Park, Oatley Park and Oatley Pleasure Grounds

    In line with the restrictions imposed by the NSW Government in response to COVID-19, today (9 April 2020) we will be closing the tidal pools at Carss Bush Park, Oatley Park and Oatley Pleasure Grounds until further notice.
     
  • State Government to extend funding to Council-run childcare centres

    Georges River Council welcomes the NSW Government’s announcement today that funding will be extended to include Council-run childcare centres.
     
  • Impact of COVID-19 lead to closure of Council-run childcare centres

    Council regrets to advise that from Tuesday 7 April the Hurstville Early Learning Centre will close, South Hurstville Kindergarten will close from Friday 10 April, and Ocean Street Kindergarten will only operate on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The operation of all of our childcare centres is now under review.

    Until further notice, Jack High Long Day Care, Penshurst Long Day Care and Narani Carss Park Child Care Centre will remain open for normal hours of operation.

  • Changes to parking enforcement in the Georges River area

    Council is aware that the current COVID-19 pandemic presents many challenges for our community. Parking is one of them, and we are also aware that many of our local shopping and business centres are quieter than normal.

  • Closure of Georges River Council Customer Service Centre

    While some of our services have been disrupted, including the closure of our Customer Service Centre, we are still open and continue to serve our community.

    In response to the Prime Minister's announcement last night regarding the two-person rule on gatherings in the fight against coronavirus, the decision has been made to close our Customer Service Centre at 12noon today.  

    We encourage our customers to contact us on the website at www.georgesriver.nsw.gov.au, using Webchat,  by phone at 9330 9499, and raise a service requests online.

    All Development Applications (DA) and pre-DA enquiries will be undertaken by phone only.
     
  • Closure of playgrounds in the Georges River area

    Effective immediately, all playgrounds in the Georges River area are closed. Council will be working to create barriers and signage around playgrounds as soon as possible. We request parents and carers adhere to these new restrictions.
