Lawn Mowing and Gardening Care

My Aged Care offer support with a number of options for basic garden and lawn mowing assistance. To be eligible you must be registered with My Aged Care. You can get in contact with My Aged Care using any of the following ways:

Nature Strip Mowing

Nature strips are the Council-owned land located between the constructed road and private property. Nature strips contribute significantly to the streetscape and appearance of local neighbourhoods. It is the responsibility of the property owner to maintain the nature strips directly outside their house.

If your nature strip is unsafe, please lodge a service request on Council’s website using the Mowing & Gardening classification. These requests will be assessed as a priority and made safe within 24 hours. Any additional works will be scheduled to be completed. Please note: Timeframes may vary depending on type of works required. Council is still responsible for repairing unsafe turf on nature strips, however will no longer be taking requests for returfing only.

Verge Garden Program

The Verge Garden Program (the Program) enables residents and business owners to plant and garden on the street verge, also commonly known as the “nature strip”. This is the area of public land located between a property boundary and the road kerb.

Participants in the Program need to comply with the Verge Garden Guidelines and register their verge garden with Council. If you think a verge garden does not comply with Council’s Guidelines, you can make an enquiry to Council by emailing vergegardens@georgesriver.nsw.gov.au or contact (02) 9330 6400.
