Mayoral Column - Youth Week 2025: Council’s GRYFest to Champion Our Local Youth

04/04/2025

With the celebration of NSW Youth Week 2025, I am pleased to announce the return of Georges River Youth Festival (GRYFest).

At Georges River Council we have the privilege of collaborating with our Youth Advisory Committee (YAC), who take the lead in planning GRYFest to promote the principles of fairness and equity for our youth.

Working with our YAC is just one of the ways we seek to uphold the Australian Human Rights Commission endorsed Child Safe Principles. Our youth are an integral part of our community with 16.1% of individuals aged 12 to 24 years old making up the population in our local government area (2021).

GRYFest is a wonderful way of nurturing the creativity, wellbeing and confidence of the youth in our community. The festival will kick-off with electrifying musical acts at our Battle of the Beats event on Friday 11 April 2025, followed by the exciting free activities, stalls and workshops available at Olds Park Youth Festival on Thursday 17 April 2025.

As we celebrate Youth Week, let us champion the voices of our local youth as we come together for a week filled with live music, skateboarding activities, craft activities and more.

I’d also like to thank 3Bridges for their ongoing support, as well as event sponsors Optus, Bondi Radio and Greenfern Studios for playing a vital role in the success of GRYFest.
