Our seniors are the heart of our community. They are our mentors, our volunteers, our lifelong learners, and the keepers of our stories. That’s why I am thrilled to invite you to join us for the NSW Seniors Festival—the largest festival of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere—right here in Georges River this March.
Running from Monday 3 March to Sunday 16 March 2025, this year’s theme, “Time to Shine,” is all about celebrating the incredible contributions of seniors and providing opportunities for connection, learning, and fun.
At Georges River Council, we are proud to support our senior residents with a fantastic lineup of free and discounted events designed to help you stay active, informed, and engaged. Whether you’re looking for health and wellbeing activities, live entertainment, technology workshops, or social gatherings, there’s something for everyone.
A highlight of the festival is our Seniors Expo on Wednesday 5 March at Hurstville Entertainment Centre, and we are thankful for Georges Estate Home Care as the Event sponsors. This is your chance to connect with over 30 local services, enjoy a Music in the Morning concert, take part in a scam awareness workshop, and explore interactive arts and history experiences. Plus, there’s free coffee and a barbecue lunch!
For those who love music, don’t miss our Musical Morning Tea with Jonathon Eid on Thursday 13 March, where you can sing along to classic hits from the 50s and 60s. If you want to improve your tech skills, our Tech Chat workshops will guide you through using the Kanopy streaming service and protecting yourself from online scams.
We also have Care Finder Information Sessions in English, Mandarin, Arabic, and Greek, ensuring that everyone has access to the support they need.
