I’ve loved seeing the incredible artwork submitted so far for my Culture in Colour: Mayoral Art Competition. It’s so inspiring to see the creativity of our young artists! This competition is all about giving children in the Georges River area the chance to celebrate the cultural and festival days that are special to them.
Whether it’s the joyful celebrations of Diwali, the festive spirit of Christmas, or the excitement of Lunar New Year, these cultural events play an important role in our vibrant community.
When children see their cultural traditions recognised and celebrated by the wider community, it helps them feel valued, safe, and supported. By sharing these meaningful aspects of their heritage, our young artists not only express their creativity but also foster a sense of inclusion and belonging for everyone in Georges River.
We will be showcasing the winners' amazing artworks in an exhibition. This will be a wonderful opportunity for everyone to appreciate the diversity of our community. Stay tuned for more details!
Entries will close on the 28th of April 2025. I encourage all children to submit their entries and be part of this fantastic celebration of culture and creativity. All winners will be presented with a certificate and a $50 gift voucher for art supplies!
