I’m pleased to share that the 2025–26 Budget has been adopted, continuing our commitment to investing in infrastructure that keeps Georges River a great place to live, visit, and work.
During the draft Budget consultation, we received a record 143 submissions – more than double last year’s number. Your feedback played a vital role in shaping our priorities and ensuring the final plan reflects the needs and aspirations of our community. Together, we’re building a stronger, safer, and more vibrant Georges River.
Council remains debt free, allowing us to confidently invest in the projects that matter most to our community. Over the next four years, we’ll invest more than $150 million in renewing and upgrading local infrastructure. This includes safer roads and footpaths, improved stormwater, and drainage systems to better protect homes, and revitalised parks and playgrounds where families can relax, play, and connect.
We’re also upgrading community buildings, childcare centres, and sporting facilities to support a strong and inclusive community. Our libraries will continue to evolve, with updated technology and collections to ensure everyone can access the information and resources they need.
One initiative I’m particularly excited about is the Synthetic Field Rubber Crumb Trial. This project aims to prevent rubber crumb from synthetic fields entering our environment and has received strong support from local groups, including Football St George and the Oatley Flora and Fauna Conservation Society.
The 2025–26 Budget reflects our ongoing commitment to building a thriving, inclusive Georges River by creating the spaces, places, and services that bring us together and help everyone feel at home.
