Join us for a dynamic workshop designed to sharpen your storyboarding skills across mediums: film, video, and prose.
You'll explore the foundations of storyboarding, learn how to structure your narrative, and utilise powerful storytelling tools like Freytag’s Pyramid and The Hero’s Journey. Apply these skills to plot and plan engaging stories and content. Whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your craft, this session will equip you with essential tools to bring your stories to life.
What will be covered in the workshop:

The foundations of storyboarding and how to use it in fictional stories (film, video, prose)

Basics of plotting a fictional story using the Three-Act Structure, and the importance of each step

Freytag’s Pyramid and how to apply it in your stories

The Hero’s Journey and its use in popular fiction
No prior experience is required - just bring a pen and paper.
This event is suitable for ages 16 and over.
About the Facilitator:
Aylish Dowsett is an award-winning writer, tutor, and copywriter. She teaches creative writing at The Writers’ Studio, The Writing Quarter, Creative Writing Ink, and St George and Sutherland Community College. Her work has been published in Mythrill Fiction, Collider, Honi Soit, Grapeshot, The Quarry, and many others. She loves cats and all things weird and British.
