Discovery Writers at Hurstville Museum & Gallery
This is a Council led event.
17/06/2025 - Hurstville Museum & Gallery
Love writing? Join the Discovery Writers for a fun and inspiring writing session at Hurstville Museum & Gallery.
The Discovery Writers group is a mix of writers and poets who meet in a collaborative environment to provide opportunities for the development and publication of writing. During this session at Hurstville Museum & Gallery, the group will use the current exhibition, Focus: Australian Government Photographers, to inspire their writing employing ekpharasis. The term is used for expression that vividly describes various forms of art, including photography.
Hear about ways to put yourself in the picture, reflect on the times and ‘speak’ to the photographer; all towards enhancing the written word.
Focus invites visitors on a journey spanning six decades of Australian life. Explore a diverse selection of work that includes intimate nature photography, striking architectural shots and images that capture everyday memories from Australia’s past.
Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to let your creativity flow and meet fellow writers!
RSVP for light refreshment catering purposes.
Focus will be open until 17 August 2025, and it is A touring exhibition developed by National Archives of Australia and supported by the National Collecting Institutions Touring and Outreach Program.
