Book Week After School: Weaving with Amy Hill of Dewrang Art
This is a Council led event.
20/08/2025 - Hurstville Library
Afloat, by Kirli Saunders and Freya Blackwood (shortlisted for the Children's Book Council of Australia 'Picture Book of the Year'), is an uplifting and inspiring work that uses the practice of weaving as a powerful metaphor for the honouring and teaching of First Nations wisdom, and the coming together of all people to survive, thrive and create a more hopeful future.
To celebrate 80 years of Australian stories in Children’s Book Week, join us as we share a reading of Afloat and learn ancient wisdom from First Nations practices. Participants will take home their own weaving piece as a reminder of their time spent with our community this Book Week.
