Celebrate 120 years of the Oatley School of Arts building which now holds Oatley Library. Join us for morning tea, a historical exhibition, and local history highlights from our Research and Community Team. Discover the stories that shaped our community while exploring this charming local landmark.

What You Will Do:
The morning begins at 10:30am with light refreshments and time to explore the exhibition featuring photographs of Oatley’s past. At 11am, our staff will offer a brief talk sharing insights and stories behind the exhibition, reflecting on the long history of Oatley School of Arts building’s role in community life over the last 120 years. After the talk, visitors will have opportunities to share their own memories of this historic building.

Suitable for ages 10 years and over. This event is perfect for history lovers, long-time locals, new residents, and anyone interested in the stories that make Oatley special. Whether you're reconnecting with old memories or discovering something new, you'll leave with a deeper appreciation for the Oatley School of Arts building.

About Research and Community History Team:
Our Research and Community History Team support the preservation and promotion of the Georges River Council through the research and collection of local historical materials such as maps, photographs and newspapers to gain a deeper understanding of our history, culture, and community. The team comprises four passionate historians who are excited to share stories with our community.

  • For participants under the age of 16, parent and/or guardian contact details must be provided at the time of booking.
  • If you arrive more than 10 minutes after the advertised start time and there are people in the standby queue, your ticket may be allocated to the standby queue.
  • If you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration at least 3 hours prior to the event. As Library Programs have limited spaces, repeated failure to notify staff of cancellations may result in bookings being refused in the future.
  • The library does not endorse or promote any products which may be used in the workshop.
