The Georges River Council Lunar New Year Festival is a spectacular celebration reaches up to 50,000 residents and visitors along Forest Road, Hurstville. The Festival showcases the very best of our city and its success is a testament to the support of local community members and local businesses.

Georges River Council’s Lunar New Year Festival is a wonderful celebration of our community.  Local residents and businesses are encouraged to get involved and participate in the magnificent array of festivities.

The situation concerning the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak continues to evolve. We take the health and wellbeing of our staff, customers and our broader community seriously, and we are doing everything we can to support our people and community as we work together to manage the COVID-19 outbreak, and stay healthy and safe.

We will continue to follow directives from the NSW Government and Federal Department of Health to implement measures in the best interests of our staff and our community.

Stallholder Applications 

Stallholder applications for Lunar New Year Festival 2021 opening soon.

Georges River Council will assess stallholders on the following criteria: 

  1. provided products or services that enhance the overall experience of the festival,
  2. provide products or services that are sourced or based within the Local Government Area,
  3. provide products or services that showcase the Local Government Area,
  4. provide products or services that are not duplicated by the permanent shops on the festival site,
  5. have products or services with high level presentation and professionalism to enhance the visual amenity of the festival,
  6. have original, creative and innovative products and services,
  7. have products or services that are appropriate to the theme and intent of the festival, including accessible price points for the local community,
  8. meet a set ratio of services, products and food vendors,
  9. are major sponsors of the festival

Please note: Organisations applying for stalls which do not relate to the theme of the event will be redirected to seek a sponsorship opportunity instead. Stallholders who will only be providing promotional material (e.g. pamphlets, posters, balloons etc.) will not be eligible for a stall unless they also provide a festival enhancing feature.
