Georges River Council is planning to build a new boardwalk within Morshead Drive Reserve in Hurstville Grove and is inviting the community to share feedback on the concept design.
Locally known as Oatley Memorial Boardwalk, the project aims to improve connections. The boardwalk connects the east and west sections of Morshead Drive, providing pedestrian access to Moore Reserve and Oatley Boat Ramp.
In April 2024, a structural engineer inspected the boardwalk and found safety concerns. Based on this advice, Council made the decision to close the boardwalk. The boardwalk is part of a larger walking trail that links the Neverfail Bay foreshore.
Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, “Following the closure of the Morshead Drive Boardwalk, we are now looking to rebuild this important link with a design that meets safety standards and community needs.
“Rebuilding the boardwalk is a key step in improving how our community moves through and enjoys our natural reserves.
“I encourage all members of our community to have their say on the concept design. Your feedback is vital in creating a space that reflects your needs.”

Consultation on the concept design is open until Friday 6 June 2025.
