Illegal signage reminder for the community

26/02/2025

Georges River Council would like to remind the community that unauthorised materials and signage attached to power poles and other public infrastructure is illegal.

Placing posters on power poles is illegal as they are owned and managed by Ausgrid.

Illegal signage can pose serious safety risks for the community. It can also obstruct important information and create visual pollution.

Should members of the community wish to promote their events legally, alternatives include:

  • Register your not-for-profit community event on our What's On page.

  • Use designated community notice boards located in various public spaces.

  • Leverage social media platforms to reach a wider audience.

  • Submit your event information to local newspapers and newsletters.

Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said: “If you see any illegal signage or posters, I remind our community not to remove it yourself but rather report it to Ausgrid.

“I encourage our community to visit our website for more details on the reporting process,” said the Mayor.
