Exhibit your work! Applications for the 2027 Community Art Space Program now open

11/06/2026

Calling on new and established artists! Applications are now open for the Georges River Council 2027 Community Art Space Program.

The program offers local artists and creative groups linked to the Georges River area a chance to showcase their works in a professional gallery setting. These spaces are suitable for a wide range of mediums, including sculptures, paintings, photographs, and drawings.

The exhibition spaces are:

  • The Dragon’s Lair Gallery within Hurstville Museum & Gallery.

  • The Clive James Library and Service Centre, Kogarah.

Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, “Georges River Council is proud to support both aspiring and established artists.

“This program provides artists with a wonderful opportunity to display their artworks for the entire community to enjoy. It also nurtures creativity, cultural expression and a vibrant arts scene.

“I encourage local artists and groups to submit an application and can’t wait to see some of the fantastic art which will be displayed in our spaces.”

Artist Bryan Mew reflected on his participation in the Community Art Space Program.

"My experience exhibiting at the Dragon’s Lair Gallery within Hurstville Museum & Gallery has been incredibly rewarding. I was honoured to be part of the gallery’s reopening of its permanent exhibition in the new year, sharing my passion for the ancient Chinese language and its deep connections to local history.

“It was especially meaningful to receive feedback on how naturally my work resonated within a museum setting that preserves and celebrates the area’s heritage. The staff were consistently professional, supportive, and thoughtful in assisting with the curation and installation of the exhibition, making the entire process a pleasure from start to finish.”

Applications close on Sunday 26 July 2026.
