Proposed Social Housing Development at 311A Forest Road, Hurstville

Residents are advised that Homes NSW is proposing to develop new social housing on government-owned land at 311A Forest Road, Hurstville.

The proposal would transform vacant land, formerly owned by Transport for NSW, into approximately 180 new social housing dwellings to help meet the growing demand for affordable and secure housing in the area.
 
The proposed development includes:

  • New apartment buildings of up to 10 storeys.

  • Resident parking.

  • Landscaped gardens.

  • Shared community spaces.

Community Information Session

Homes NSW invites community members to attend a drop-in information session to learn more about the proposal, ask questions and provide feedback.

There will be no formal presentation, and residents may attend at any time during the session.

Date: Thursday 24 September 2026.
Time: 4.30pm to 7.00pm.
Venue: Library Exhibition Area, Hurstville Library. Corner of Dora Street and Queens Road, Hurstville.
Accessibility: Hurstville Library is wheelchair accessible.
Parking: Street parking is available nearby.
Public Transport: The venue is approximately a five-minute walk from Hurstville Railway Station.

What Happens Next?

Following the close of consultation, Homes NSW will review community feedback and consider opportunities to refine the proposal.

A State Significant Development Application (SSDA) will then be submitted to the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure for assessment.

Once lodged, the proposal will be publicly exhibited on the Department's Planning Portal, providing a further opportunity for community review and comment.
