Notification of Works – Penshurst Lane Retaining Wall Construction - Bridge Street, Penshurst

Georges River Council is rebuilding the damaged retaining wall along Bridge Street, near Penshurst Lane. These improvements will strengthen the wall and help keep the road safe for the community.

The work will include removing and replacing the damaged barrier, excavating and installing concrete piles, and repairing the existing sandstone blocks.

What to expect during the work

Work is expected to start in early October 2026. It will take place from Monday to Friday, between 6:00pm and 5:00am. Parts of Bridge Street will close temporarily while work is underway.

Access through the work site will be reduced during construction. Traffic controllers will help vehicles and pedestrians move through the area where it is safe to do so.

We will install electronic message boards on all approaches to the work site two weeks before work starts. The signs will show the confirmed construction dates and any changes to traffic, pedestrian access or parking.

Night work is needed to reduce daytime disruption to businesses, road users and public transport. The noisiest work will aim to be finished by 11:00pm. Minor, less disruptive activities, may also be undertaken intermittently during the day, Monday to Friday between 7:00am and 5:00pm.

We will manage noise and other impacts in line with NSW environmental requirements and work to reduce disruption to nearby residents and businesses where possible.
