Georges River Council is inviting residents to take part in new community research exploring how people manage broken household items.
About the study
Georges River Council as part of the Southern Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (SSROC) is partnering with Monash University on a year-long research project exploring what people do when household items stop working, and why.
This study is being conducted by Monash University on behalf of SSROC and funded by the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA). Instinct and Reason is supporting participant coordination.
These findings will help inform councils, and the NSW EPA to support the development of future waste programs.
How and who can get involved?
We’re looking for Georges River residents aged 18+ to share their views and approaches.
Participation includes:
-
A 90‑minute online group discussion held in April and May with other Southern Sydney residents.
-
A $50.00 gift card as a thank‑you for attending the focus group.
-
Participants may also have the opportunity to try a local repair initiative over the coming year. Those who do, will be invited to share their experience and receive an additional $100 gift card.
