Georges River Council would like to inform the community that piling works for the Carss Park Pool Project will begin soon.
Piling is the process of installing deep foundations into the ground to support new structures. This is an important stage in the construction of the new pool facility.

Work Schedule
Piling works are scheduled to:

Start: Tuesday 15 September 2026.

Finish: Late October 2026 (weather and site conditions permitting).

​Work may take place Monday to Saturday between 7:00am to 6:00pm.
What to Expect
During these works, residents and visitors may notice:

Increased construction noise.

More activity on the construction site.

Additional truck movements along Carwar Avenue.

Delivery of piling equipment and construction materials.
The project team will make every effort to reduce impacts on nearby residents and the surrounding area.
Measures to Reduce Impacts
The contractor will carry out the works in accordance with approved environmental requirements and applicable NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) regulations. Measures will be in place to help minimise:

The works are being carried out in accordance with NSW Environment Protection Authority requirements and the project's approved environmental management controls.
The Office of Sport’s contractor is also implementing measures to minimise noise, vibration, dust and traffic congestion.

Why is a new pool being built at Carss Park?
Following the 2023 NSW State election, the NSW Government committed to build a new pool at the site.
The NSW Office of Sport is leading the project on behalf of the NSW Government and Georges River Council.

What facilities will be included at the new pool?
The new Carss Park Pool will include a modern, outdoor, eight lane, 50 metre swimming pool with a swim wall that caters for learner swimmers, recreational swimmers, squad swimming and school carnivals.
The project also includes a 20 x 10 metre outdoor Learn to Swim pool and ancillary facilities that provide a safe, fit for purpose swimming facility for the local community.

Will the pool have a grandstand?
The pool will not include a grandstand, but instead an area of shaded, spectator seating.

What approvals did you get to build the pool?
Planning approvals were achieved via a Review of Environmental Factors (REF) by the Office of Sport.
This planning process is permitted due to the nature of the project and is similar to a Development Application which considers development impacts, mitigation measures and legislative requirements.

Who is building the pool?
The NSW Office of Sport is leading the project on behalf of the NSW Government and Georges River Council.
ADCO Constructions is the construction contractor for the project.

How much is the project costing?
Up to $63.5 million has been committed by Georges River Council, and the Commonwealth and NSW Governments to construct the new pools.

The facility is scheduled to open in late 2027.
