Join the Great Spring Clean Up This October

07/10/2026

Georges River Council is asking residents, community groups, schools, and local organisations to help with this year's Great Spring Clean Up. Register a clean-up event or join Council's community clean-up day this October.

As part of Clean Up Australia's Great Spring Clean Up campaign, Council will help with community clean-up activities. These will take place in the Georges River area. These activities are a commitment to a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable community.

Mayor Elise Borg said the annual event offers residents a simple way to make a positive difference in the local environment.

"Every piece of litter taken from our streets, parks, and waterways helps protect the environment. It also keeps the Georges River looking great," said Mayor Borg.

"The Great Spring Clean Up is a fun event for residents. It’s a chance to team up, meet neighbours, and make a real impact. I encourage everyone to register an event or join Council's clean-up day in Hurstville."

Council's Environment, Waste, and Sustainability Team is hosting a litter clean-up. It will take place at Hurstville Oval on Wednesday 21 October.

Participants will clean up litter in the local area. They will also learn about waste, recycling, and sustainability from Council's waste education team. Light refreshments will be provided following the clean-up.

Council will provide rubbish bags for participants. Attendees are encouraged to bring gloves, a hat and water bottle.
