Council commits to involving the community in decisions that impact the local area. This December, several consultations are open for residents to provide feedback.
Public Exhibitions and Planning Proposals
After the Council meeting on 17 November, three key documents are now on public display:
-
Community Engagement Strategy 2025–2035.
-
Interactions with Children and Young People Policy.
-
Councillor Induction and Professional Development Policy.
The updated Community Engagement Strategy outlines how Council involves the community in decision-making. It explains when engagement occurs and how feedback is collected. It also details how residents are notified about development applications.
In addition, two park planning proposals are on exhibition:
These plans detail proposed improvements and future uses of these open spaces.
Advisory Committee Applications
Residents can also get involved through Council’s advisory committees. These bring together people with diverse perspectives, cultures, and experiences.
Expressions of interest are now open for:
- Multicultural Advisory Committee.
- Access and Inclusion Committee.
- Sports Advisory Committee.
Committee members provide valuable insights. They guide Council in making decisions that reflect the needs of the community.
Community Programs
Council delivers a range of creative and community-focused programs across Georges River.
Opportunities for participation:
- Battle of the Beats 2026.
- The Great Unwaste.
- Celebratory and Commemorative Tree Program.
These programs show our focus on creativity, sustainability, and community pride.
Georges River Mayor Elise Borg said, “Georges River Council values hearing from our community on the issues that matter most.
“Your feedback helps shape local decisions. It ensures the services, spaces, and programs we deliver reflect the needs and aspirations of our community.
“I encourage all residents to get involved in the current consultations and have their say.”
