Alcohol Prohibited Areas

Drinking alcohol in public areas can be a nuisance to local residents and is often a contributing factor in incidents of anti-social behaviour.
Under the provisions of Section 632A of the Local Government Act 1993, Council has the authority to prohibit the possession and consumption of alcohol in parks and reserves by proclaiming them as Alcohol Prohibited Areas.
As anti-social behaviour often occurs during the evening hours, Council prohibits the consumption of alcohol at local parks between the hours of 8.00pm and 8.00am.
Failure to comply with the prohibition could result in the alcohol being confiscated and disposed of by NSW Police and possibly other action taken.

The following reserves and parks in the Georges River area are Alcohol Prohibited Areas:

  • Edgbaston Road Reserve – Beverly Hills
  • H.V. Evatt Park – Lugarno
  • Keppel Avenue Reserve – Webb Street, Riverwood
  • McGowan Reserve – Renway Avenue, Lugarno
