School Holidays: Learn Stop Motion Animation (8-12 years)

This is a Council led event.

07/04/2026 - Hurstville Library

Find out how Shaun the Sheep, Chicken Run and Fantastic Mr. Fox look the way they do.

They are all examples of stop-motion animation. Stop-motion animation is the art of stitching still images together to create a moving image and while it takes some patience, it is amazingly easy to learn.

Using a still camera, a tripod and a little creativity, you can learn how to make inanimate objects come to life.
In this workshop, you will learn:

  • How to make animation-ready models from clay.

  • How to plan your video using a storyboard.

  • How to use a tripod.

  • How to edit photographs together in Photoshop.

  • How to create a looping GIF file.
