Media Lab: Song Book

Over four weeks, build your musical skills and be transported through time with Song Book!
 
In this program, participants will explore a range of musical genres, from Country and Jazz to Rock & Roll, through song-based group learning. Each week the group will learn new songs and be introduced to a variety of instruments.
 
Beginner level instruction will be provided for guitar, ukulele, piano and voice.
 
Over four weeks, participants will:

  • Learn music theory and hone musical skills through performing historically important compositions and explore the cultural histories that have shaped music over time.
  • Build confidence making music with others, by practising rhythm, harmony, and communication in a group setting.
  • Explore playing genres including Blues, Jazz, Country and Rock & Roll.
  

Every Wednesday from 5 August to 29 August 2026

$27.50 for four sessions.

  • No refunds for cancellations or missed bookings.

  • Program swapping is not permitted.

  • If you arrive more than 10 minutes after the advertised start time and there are people in the standby queue, your ticket may be allocated to the standby queue.

  • This workshop will not be recorded and cannot be accessed after the scheduled time. If you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration at least 3 hours prior to the event. As Library Programs have limited spaces and repeated failure to notify staff of cancellations, bookings may be refused in the future.

About the Facilitator:
Tito Espinosa is a songwriting, guitar playing, record producing, music/film/art nerd from New York City. His passion for folk and blues music has given him a distinct people-centred approach to teaching. For years Tito performed as Chorizo Slim and The Boogie Blues Band and now he releases music through his small label Boogie Strange Records.
