Level up your videos with this practical introduction to editing on a smartphone using CapCut, a powerful, free and easy-to-use tool.

Put the finishing touches on your videos with this hands-on introduction to CapCut. 
 
CapCut is a free beginner-friendly video editor and is the go-to tool for content creators and media professionals alike. No experience is required.
 
Learn to make the most of CapCut’s fast and powerful features using just your smartphone, so you can create scroll-stopping videos ready for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or any platform you love.

In this workshop you will:

  • Create engaging short-form videos through smart editing – Learn how pacing, structure and visual choices can make your videos clearer and more compelling.

  • Build confidence using CapCut (for mobile) – Get hands-on with essential tools including importing footage, trimming clips, choosing aspect ratios and arranging your timeline.

  • Enhance your content with practical features – Add text, captions, music, transitions and simple colour adjustments using CapCut’s free tools.

  • Export ready for social media – Prepare and format your videos for platforms like Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts.

More information

Participants are required to bring their smartphone with the CapCut mobile application installed for practical exercises. It is recommended participants create a free CapCut account prior to the workshop.  

About the Facilitator:
Neil Ismail is a creative professional with over 15 years of experience in music production, video production, and storytelling. He has mentored aspiring DJs and producers as the former head instructor at DJ Warehouse Sydney, with many of his students achieving successful careers.
 
About the Media Lab: 
The Media Lab boasts a professional studio set up with a cyclorama wall, green screens, studio lights and Surface Studios with the full Adobe Creative Cloud. The digital tool library contains cameras, recording equipment and other digital accessories that can be borrowed for free with your library membership

Terms and conditions:
  • If you arrive more than 10 minutes after the advertised start time and there are people in the standby queue, your ticket may be allocated to the standby queue.
  • If you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration at least 3 hours prior to the event. As Library Programs have limited spaces, repeated failure to notify staff of cancellations may result in bookings being refused in the future.
