Get Crafty: Mini Junk Journals at Kogarah Library

This is a Council led event.

09/07/2026 - Clive James Library and Service Centre.

Perfectly Imperfect: Mini Junk Journal Workshop.

Junk journals celebrate the beauty of imperfection. In this workshop, you'll dig into a pile of repurposed materials – old artworks, test pages, receipts and found papers – and assemble them into a mini journal that is bespoke, scrappy, and completely unique to you.

We'll stitch the spine together using a simple binding technique, but this workshop is not about precision. It is about embracing the surprise of the process, finding creative value in discarded materials, and ending up with something that feels like an art object as much as a journal.

In this workshop you will:

  • Select and repurpose materials to create your journal pages

  • Assemble and compose intuitively – no two journals will look the same

  • Stitch your journal together using a simple binding technique

  • Leave with a finished mini junk journal that is ready to use and keep

No experience needed and everything is provided. Feel free to bring along old artworks, test pages or papers you'd like to repurpose, but everything you need will be on the table.
