Creative Digital Media: Intro to Videography for Teens (12-17 years)

Learn how to film content. Shape your vision and gain hands-on videography experience. These workshops are suitable for people ages 12-17 years old.

Workshop 1 – Thursday 5 March
In our first week, you will get an introduction to videography and all the different elements that come together to create an amazing, finished product! We will cover the fundamentals of camera operation and understand the different camera types as well as basic camera functions.

Workshop 2 – Thursday 12 March
This week we will be focusing on the principles of lighting, light sources and how these can be used to create mood and depth in your videos. We will also touch on using frame shots, understanding camera angles, as well as different types of movement.

Workshop 3 – Thursday 19 March
This week we will be looking at sound. We will check out techniques for capturing clear and effective audio using microphones and other equipment with Adobe Premiere Pro.

Workshop 4 – Thursday 26 March
This week we will look at our videography project and review what we have applied in the previous weeks. We will learn the basic cuts, editing grammar and the stages of post-production of our videos and how to perfect these!

More information 

  • All materials and equipment will be provided, however participants may bring their own phone or camera to create content with.

  • ​Please bring your own USB so you can save your digital files each week. USBs are available for purchase from the library for $6.50.

  • ​This workshop is suitable for young people ages 12-17 years old.

  • For participants under the age of 16, parent and/or guardian contact details must be provided at the time of booking. 

  • No refunds for cancellations or missed bookings.

  • Program swapping is not permitted.

  • If you arrive more than 10 minutes after the advertised start time and there are people in the standby queue, your ticket may be allocated to the standby queue. 

  • If you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration at least 3 hours prior to the event. As Library Programs have limited spaces and repeated failure to notify staff of cancellations, bookings may be refused in the future. 

  • The library does not endorse or promote any products which may be used in the workshop.
