Georges River Disability Inclusion Community Consultation
This is a Council led event.
11/02/2026 - Georges River Civic Centre.
Join our community consultation to help us better understand our residents’ experiences of disability access and inclusion in Georges River.
We are looking for people with lived experience of disability, their carers and family members from Georges River to share their thoughts, feeling and experiences on local access and inclusion.
Feedback from consultation will inform the design of Georges River Council’s 2026-2030 Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP).
When you register, please include dietary requirements as catering will be provided.
About the Disability Inclusion Action Plan:
The Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) is Council’s four-year plan to make our community more inclusive, accessible, and welcoming for people with disability, their families and carers.
It guides how we:
-
Make Council services and spaces easier to access.
-
Support participation in community life and employment.
-
Build positive attitudes and inclusive systems.
The DIAP focusses on what Council can directly influence - things like facilities, services, events, training, and communication.
We acknowledge there are areas outside our control, such as transport, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) funding, and state or federal planning laws. We work with agencies and advisory bodies to bring awareness and advocate for the needs of our diverse communities.
We’re now updating our DIAP for 2026–2030 to reflect current community needs and ideas for change. Your lived experience matters most — your insights and feedback will help shape the next plan and make sure it reflects what really makes a difference.
You can read the current DIAP 2022-2026 (PDF) or Easy Read format - DIAP 2022-2026 (PDF).
