School Holiday Program: Chess Workshop (Beginners)

This is a Council led event.

Learn your Queen’s Gambit from your Sicilian Defence at our school holiday workshop, taught by experienced instructors from PlantChess Coaching.

With two workshops available (Beginners and Intermediate/Advanced), participants will have the opportunity to learn more about chess strategies for their level. These workshops are suitable for children and young people between 8-17 years old. 

They will also enjoy one-on-one games with other students to further develop their skills while being supported by expert instructors.

Spaces are limited, so bookings are essential.

More information 

  • All materials and equipment will be provided. 

  • ​These workshops are suitable for children and young people between 8-17 years old. ​

  • For participants aged 12 years and under, parents and/or guardians of children must remain in the library for the duration of the program. For safety reasons, one parent/guardian can only be responsible for a maximum of 4 children (1:4 ratio).
  • For participants under the age of 16, parent and/or guardian contact details must be provided at the time of booking.

  • If you arrive more than 10 minutes after the advertised start time and there are people in the standby queue, your ticket may be allocated to the standby queue.

  • If you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration at least 3 hours prior to the event. As Library Programs have limited spaces and repeated failure to notify staff of cancellations, bookings may be refused in the future.

  • The library does not endorse or promote any products which may be used in the workshop.
