Media Lab: Studio Lighting and Photography

Unlock your creativity and the potential of your camera in this introductory Studio Lighting and Photography workshop.
Participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of shooting in a photography studio, exploring lighting, composition, and manual camera settings to get everything picture perfect.
Whether photographing portraits or products, participants in this workshop will feel inspired and empowered to continue creating.
In this session you will:

Learn to get the most out of the manual camera settings on your DSLR.

Discover studio photography fundamentals including how to use different kinds of light such as ambient and flash lighting and play with bounce and negative fill.

Get hands-on practical experience taking photos in a studio environment with a model.

About the Facilitator:
Chris Elder is a filmmaker, photographer, producer and founder of the Haus Party production house. His credits include videos for some of the biggest names in Australian and international music including Polaris, Peking Duck and Illy. Chris, who goes by Elder professionally, recently took out the Australian spot in a global search by Ed Sheeran for film-clips to accompany his album ‘Autumn Variations’.
About the Media Lab and Digital Tools collection:
The Media Lab boasts a professional studio set up with a cyclorama wall, green screens, studio lights and Surface Studios with the full Adobe Creative Cloud. The digital tool library contains cameras, recording equipment and other digital accessories that can be borrowed for free with your library membership.
