Celebrate Woven from a Hundred Flowers with vibrant Nepalese performances and free, drop-in art activities for all ages.

Join us at Hurstville Museum & Gallery to celebrate the launch of our new exhibition Woven from a hundred flowers, an exploration of the rich culture and diverse stories of the Nepalese community in the Georges River region.

This special Open Day invites visitors of all ages to experience a vibrant program of performances and creative activities, offering meaningful ways to connect with the exhibition.
 

Singing and dancing by Advance Diversity Services Nepalese Grandparents Group (NGPG) and students from Nepalese Dance Group | 10.30am - 10.45am

The day will begin with a lively performance by Advance Diversity Services Nepalese Grandparents Group (NGPG) and students from Nepalese Dance group. Through song and dance, these groups share stories of migration, connection and community.

Visitors will be invited to join in, learning dance movements and experiencing the joy of Nepalese cultural expression firsthand.
 

Drop-in activities | 10.00am - 3.00pm

Throughout the day, enjoy a range of free drop-in activities designed for the whole family. Create your own flag pin, design a mask inspired by those featured in the exhibition, contribute to a large-scale mandala colouring station, or make your own map with Artist in Residence Lada Dedic. No prior experience is needed, and all materials are provided.

This one-day celebration offers a welcoming and engaging opportunity to explore creativity, culture and community together.

• For participants aged 11 years and under, parents and/or guardians of children must remain at Hurstville Museum & Gallery for the duration of the program. For safety reasons, we allow each parent and/or guardian to be responsible of a maximum of 4 children per session (1:4 ratio).

• A parent and/or guardian must be aged 16 years or over. A parent and/or guardian must remain at Hurstville Museum & Gallery for the duration of the program for participants aged 11 years and under.

• Programs are fully supervised by qualified staff.

• While all reasonable precautions are taken, participation in the program is at the participants' parent/guardian’s own risk.

• The museum and its staff are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage sustained during the program unless caused by gross negligence.
