Book Week Workshop: Verse to Vibes
This is a Council led event.
29/08/2026 - Hurstville Library
Celebrate Book Week by exploring your creative side in this dynamic, hands-on workshop for 12-17 year olds. Experiment with bold and imaginative poetic forms including spine poetry, found poetry, and paint chip poetry to transform your words into something truly unique and expressive. Then, take it a step further by bringing those words to life through music and layer rhythm, sound, and storytelling to create original pieces that are meant to be heard, felt, and shared.
Participants will experiment, collaborate, and build confidence in their writing and develop their voice through poetry, a universal and timeless form of storytelling. Using our amazing in-house collection of instruments and guided by the expertise of our musical facilitator Tito, teens will experiment with blending their own writing with different styles of music to turn everyday words into powerful expressions of meaning, emotion and imagination.
About the Facilitator:
Tito Espinosa is a songwriting, guitar playing, record producing, music/film/art nerd from New York City! His love of playing, listening to, and teaching music has helped him forge countless collaborative opportunities and he’s played an equally countless number of gigs in and around New York City, Sydney, and wherever else it is that he and his guitar find themselves! For years he performed as “Chorizo Slim and The Boogie Blues Band” and now he releases music through his small label “Boogie Strange Records”.
