Planning Proposal for Moomba to Sydney Pipeline Hazard Analysis

Planning Proposal Request

This Planning Proposal seeks to amend the Georges River Local Environmental Plan 2021 (GRLEP) to:

a) Amend the existing Activity Hazard Risk Map by replacing the existing affectation on 1-13 Berrille Road, Narwee with a 200m buffer along the entire pipeline,

b) Update clause 6.16 Development in areas of activity hazard risk to restrict development containing sensitive land uses, and

c) Insert 'Respite Day Care Centre' and 'Correctional Centre' as additional sensitive land uses which will be restricted by clause 6.16.

Status

Council resolved to prepare the Planning Proposal at its meeting on 17 November 2025.

A report was considered by the Georges River Local Planning Panel on 19 February 2026.

The Planning Proposal was considered by Council’s Environment and Planning Committee on 9 March 2026.

On 23 March 2026, Council Council resolved to forward the Planning Proposal to the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) for a Gateway Determination.

On 1 April 2026, the Planning Proposal was forwarded to the DPHI for a Gateway Determination.
