Georges River Council is proud to support National Child Protection Week which runs from 6 to 12 September.
 
The annual campaign is led by the National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN). This year’s theme is ‘Every Conversation Matters, Shifting Conversation to Action.’
 
Council will deliver two initiatives during National Child Protection week including the following programs:

• Sessions facilitated by KidsROAR for both educators and children at Early Learning Services across the Georges River community

• An artwork program embedded into Council’s Early Learning Services

The initiatives will empower children and educators to respond to inappropriate behaviour. They also give children a platform to share what safety means and looks like to them.
 
Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, “Georges River Council is committed to ensuring our community is safe and inclusive for children and young people.
 
“We take child safety very seriously; our support for National Child Protection Week is a key part of us advocating for children in our area.
 
“It’s also important for us to play our role in educating the community about the importance of child safety and protection.”
