Shared e-bikes in Georges River

Public Notice 26/05/2026

Shared e-bike operator Lime officially expanded to Georges River on Monday 4 May 2026. This follows new NSW Government laws that allow approved operators to enter council areas.

Georges River Council does not control which operators enter the area. However, it does manage how e-bikes are used. This includes setting:

  • Approved parking areas.

  • No ride and no parking zones.

  • Slow-speed zones in busy areas.

Council is aware of community concerns, including:

  • E-bikes left on footpaths and blocking access.

  • Parking near transport hubs, such as taxi ranks.

Under current laws, Council must give notice before removing unattended items. This can delay how quickly bikes are removed.

Reporting Issues

Residents are encouraged to report issues directly to Lime for a faster response:

Please include the location and, if possible, the bike ID.

Council will continue to monitor the rollout and work with the operator to improve safety and access.
