The 2025 Macedonian Festival was held at Carss Bush Park on 16 November last year and was very well attended by community.

Georges River Council received an event application this year for the proposed 2026 Macedonian Festival to be held at Carss Bush Park on Sunday 15 November 2026.

The application submitted by event organisers was incomplete and did not meet the requirements for assessment. Council advised organisers of the outstanding documentation and information required to progress the application. The application remained on hold pending the submission of this material and, accordingly, no event permit was issued.

All event applications are assessed by Council staff. Assessments are based solely on governance, compliance and public safety considerations, with the same criteria applied to all community-led events. Councillors do not have a role in the determination of event applications as this would be inconsistent with the Code of Conduct.

While waiting for a response from event organisers Council was made aware via social media that organisers had found an alternate location.

Georges River Council supports cultural celebrations that bring people together and contribute to the rich cultural diversity of our community, and we are pleased that the 2026 Macedonian Festival has found a location for 2026.
