Kogarah New City Plan

The Kogarah Local Environmental Plan 2012 is no longer in effect.

Kogarah Local Environmental Plan (LEP) 2012 (Amendment No. 2) was gazetted on 26 May 2017.

Known as the Kogarah New City Plan, it included a number of changes to provide options for additional housing opportunities to meet the future needs of our community, including changes to zones, building heights and floor space ratios (FSR).

A summary of the changes made by the then Department of Planning and Environment (DPE) for the gazetted Kogarah Local Environmental Plan (LEP) 2012 (Amendment No. 2) compared to the Plan adopted by Council on 4 April 2016 in response to submissions received during the public exhibition is outlined in a letter from the DPE and summarised in this presentation.

Planning Proposals

Council prepared a planning proposal to explain the intended effect of the Kogarah New City Plan (KLEP 2012 amendment) and set out the justification for making that Plan.

The preparation of a planning proposal is the first step in preparing a LEP.

A Gateway Determination specifies whether a planning proposal can proceed to public exhibition.
