Regulatory Services

Council’s Regulatory Services department includes the Ranger and Parking Officer teams. Regulatory Services Officers provide a valuable service to the community by responding to reports of illegal activities as well as proactively identifying and investigating matters that may present a danger to the public or environment.
Officers from this department of Georges River Council have regulatory responsibilities for the investigation of matters that include the following:

  • Water pollution

  • Illegal parking

  • Unapproved articles in public areas

  • Companion animal matters

  • Abandoned vehicles

Council Officers provide information on Council services and events. Officers also provide educational information to help community members better understand their responsibilities under legislation that may affect them.

Regular patrols

Council Officers regularly undertake proactive patrols of parks and other public areas to address any actual or potential issues that may arise. Such matters include dogs off leash in public areas, unapproved use of public land, illegal parking practices and active development sites.
