Do you know someone outstanding who deserves community recognition?
Nominations are now open for the Georges River Australia Day Awards, an annual awards campaign that aims to honour people who have contributed significantly to the Georges River community.
“We’re sounding the call for nominations of local citizens who contribute in significant ways to the Georges River community,” said Georges River Council Mayor Nick Katris.
“There are so many good reasons to put someone forward for these awards. If you know someone who demonstrates outstanding acts of kindness or leadership – let us know.
“If you know a tireless environmental volunteer, or someone who contributes to education or to sports, or who dedicates themselves to community welfare, or someone who strives to support local business – let us know.”
Nominations can be made for several categories, including Young Citizen of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, and Citizen of the Year.
“Our community is lucky to have so many dedicated volunteers and community heroes making a difference in Georges River. Please take a moment to nominate them for recognition.”
All nominees will receive a formal letter to confirm their nomination. Winners and nominators will be invited to an official awards ceremony on Australia Day on 26 January 2024 at the Marana Auditorium in Hurstville.
Nominees must be an Australian citizen and live in the Georges River Council local government area.
You can complete an online nomination form or pick up a paper form at the Customer Service Centre or a Georges River Council public library.
Nominations must provide a description of the nominee’s achievements by addressing the selection guidelines and eligibility criteria outlined in the form.
Supporting documentation, including photographs or brochures, can be attached to the nomination.
All information contained in your nomination will be treated confidentially.
Nominations must be received by Friday 27 October 2023 and can be made by post or online.
