Mamma Mia! Here we go again: Eurovision Live Broadcast Party 2024 in Hurstville

23/04/2024

Hej Malmö…this is Georges River Calling!

Calling all Eurovision enthusiasts and music lovers alike! Georges River Council is thrilled to announce the return of our fifth annual Eurovision Live Broadcast Party, happening free and live at Hurstville's Marana Auditorium on Sunday 12 May.

This year, we're taking you on a journey to the heart of Sweden as we celebrate Sweden's hosting of the 2024 contest in Malmö, and the 50th anniversary of ABBA's iconic Eurovision win in 1974 with "Waterloo". Prepare to be transported to a European wonderland right here in Hurstville, with the Marana Auditorium decked out in laser lights paying homage to the northern lights and Swedish-themed decor galore!

And what better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than with your mum or your mother’s group? Join us for a fun-filled morning out, where you can indulge in a Swedish-style smorgasbord featuring mouthwatering delights like Swedish meatballs and cinnamon rolls.

But the fun doesn't stop there! We're thrilled to announce that FABBA, the ultimate ABBA live band show, will be joining us to perform some of ABBA's greatest hits before the broadcast and to host the event. Get ready to dance the morning away with entertaining activations like the 360 spinning camera and our EuroDisco featuring Eurovision dance bangers. Plus, don't forget to dress to impress for our Best Dressed competition for your chance to win an array of Eurovision merchandise!

So mark your calendars and join us for an unforgettable Eurovision experience at Marana Auditorium. It's the perfect way to celebrate Mother's Day, honour ABBA's legendary win, and soak up the Swedish vibes as we watch this year's contest in Malmö.

Georges River Council Mayor Sam Elmir said, “We are very proud of our event being the biggest Eurovision live broadcast party in Australia and it is fantastic to see our event gains more popularity every year.

“Georges River Council celebrates diversity, so we are the perfect place to welcome all locals, visitors, mum groups and families to join us as we cheer on Australia's entrant, Electric Fields.”

“The European Union is delighted to again support Australia’s largest Eurovision viewing party hosted by the Georges River Council. Australia’s long-standing love affair with Eurovision, a contest that brings people together in a celebration of art, culture, diversity and democracy, is a demonstration of our two regions shared values,” said EU Ambassador Gabriele Visentin.

“This is why I would encourage those Europeans in Australia, as you vote for your favourite country today, to remember the European Elections on June 7-9 and exercise your democratic right to help shape the future. We hope everyone has a wonderful party and good luck to Australia’s entrant Electric Fields.”
