Entries Open for Georges River Art Prize 2023

10/07/2023

The Georges River Art Prize 2023 is a biennial art prize that provides an opportunity for artists from all over Australia to display their work. Open to the community and nationwide, it is organised by Hurstville Museum & Gallery and offers over $20,000 in prize money across all five categories.

The categories include painting and sculpture work, children and youth, and local artists. All finalists are eligible for the People’s Choice or Young People’s Choice award.

Entries are open now and close 25 August 2023.

After entries close, three judges will shortlist the finalists. Judges for this year are Tony Costa, 2019 winner of the Archibald Prize, Patrick Cremin, an artist and arts worker based in Sydney and Carrie Kibbler, the Curator at Hazelhurst Arts Centre.

Winners will be announced face-to-face at the official opening of the finalists’ exhibition. There will be two openings, one youth celebration and then one for winners and finalists of the adult categories.

Georges River Mayor Nick Katris said, “I encourage those artists within our community and nationwide to enter this fantastic prize, it’s a great opportunity to showcase your talents and gain deserved recognition.

“I especially encourage our local arts community and the creative youth of Georges River to enter. We have so much talent in Georges River so I look forward to seeing the entries.”
